Buying Moroccan Zellige is different from buying standard tiles: it is a handmade natural product, so color, thickness and size vary slightly from one tile to the next. This guide walks you through everything — formats, colors, quantity calculation, samples, shipping and payments — so you order the right product the first time.
1. Choose Your Format
- 5x5 cm Zellige — the classic mosaic. Best for kitchen backsplashes, bathrooms and intricate decorative patterns.
- 10x10 cm Zellige — larger squares that cover walls faster, with fewer grout joints. Ideal for feature walls.
- Hexagonal Zellige — a honeycomb shape for geometric, art-deco and contemporary projects.
2. Select Your Color
We produce more than 50 colors: traditional greens, blues, ochre, terracotta, black and white, plus modern tones. Because glazes are mixed and applied by hand, batches can differ slightly in tone. 3. Measure and Calculate Your Quantity
Zellige is sold by square meter. Calculate width × height for each surface, sum all surfaces, then add approximately 10% extra material for breakage, cutting and installation waste. This reserve is essential with handmade tiles: edges are slightly irregular and a few pieces may need cutting to fit.
4. Order Samples First
Never choose a color from a screen. We send a free color sample palette via UPS or DHL collect, or a full sample box via DHL, so you can see the real glaze under your lighting. Request your samples and compare tones before production starts.
5. Understand Lead Times and Payments
Production starts after the proforma invoice is confirmed and takes 30 to 60 days. Payment is 50% with the proforma and 50% before shipment, or 100% by confirmed letter of credit. All export documentation and packing are included; we ship worldwide by sea, air or express courier.
