1. Real Zellige Comes from Fez
Fez has been the capital of Zellige since the 10th century. If a supplier says "authentic Zellige" but cannot confirm Fez production, be careful. 2. How to Spot Real Handmade Zellige
- Imperfect edges: hand-cut tiles are never perfectly straight. This is a feature, not a defect.
- Color variation: each tile differs slightly in tone and depth. Identical tiles mean machine production.
- Glaze texture: real Zellige has fine crazing and a soft, slightly matte lustre.
- Thickness differences: different tiles vary in thickness by 1–2 mm.

3. Order Samples Before You Commit
Never judge a glaze from a photo. A reliable supplier will send physical samples. We send a free color palette via UPS or DHL collect (or a full sample box), so you can check the real surface, color and texture at home. Request your samples.
